Hotel laundry cost questions

How many pounds of laundry does a hotel generate per occupied room?

The correct number depends on room type, bed configuration, towel standard, stayover policy and amenities. We use 8 pounds only as a starting sample; weighing several representative carts is much more reliable.

What should be included in in-house laundry cost?

Include loaded labor, water, sewer, gas or electricity, chemistry, equipment depreciation or lease, repairs, preventive maintenance and any incremental space or management cost.

Does the lower modeled cost always identify the best option?

No. Quality consistency, turnaround, labor availability, control, emergency capacity, capital requirements and expected linen life can outweigh a narrow cost difference.
